Apparently I belong in London?

You Belong in London

A little old fashioned, and a little modern.

A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock.

A unique soul like you needs a city that offers everything.

No wonder you and London will get along so well.

Planning, Packing, & Garage sales.

Its official I’m going to Italy! Now the tough part packing, planning, and budgets (the worst part of the planning). Working in corporate America (well working at a ski resort) I have a lot of down time for surfing the net. Especially since the season is pretty much over (we close the last lifts on May 4th).

Where to begin is the question. Once the plane ticket was booked it was like opening Pandora’s Box. I have my backpack now all I need to do is fill it. I have to think about vaccinations since I plan on traveling to Turkey and other countries where malaria is present. As I mentioned before, I still need to budget out my funds. Initially I’ll try to work as an English teacher making Euros to help cover some expenses, but you can only plan that to an extent from the states. I’m in the process of applying to the ACLE camps (www.acle.org). In the mean time to help with the travel fund Jes (my roommate) and I plan on having a garage sale to help support our traveling, she’s going to Zealand to Snowboard for the summer (well their winter) and as you know I’m going to Europe. We plan on selling all types of good things: handcrafted beanies, clothes, old snowboard gear, house goods, and well whatever else we can find to part with. Dates TBD.

Puddle Jumping

About a year ago my dear friend Emily told me that she and GC decided to move to Italy. I have to admit I was a little sad, but I was happy for her. I was sad because my dear friend was moving even further away from me; I mean she already lived in NYC. So they set out on their year long journey of planning out the move across the pond.

Now a year later it’s only weeks away from their departure. Still figuring out what to take, what to donate, and what to put in storage the two are as ready as they’ll be to set forth on their big adventure. A month after GC and Emily jet-set across the pond I’m only about a month away. Of course once she told me they were moving to Italy, it was a known fact I wouldn’t be too far behind. I hope GC knows what he’s getting into, with Emily and I together. (I am the line)

I’ve booked my ticket, found someone to sublet my room for the summer and I’m still a little nervous about leaving for so long. As I sit here in my space I dream about drinking cappuccinos, people watching, art, Italian food, traveling across the country, and everything else that goes with the European lifestyle. Although it’s only for a little less than 3 months, I know I’ll fall right into place. Italy here I come.

Oh to Wisdom Teeth!

Yesterday I was the lucky soul who had her top wisdom teeth pulled out. Everyone said, “oh the top ones are the easiest.” To my dismay only one was easy. It took the dentist about 30 minutes to pull out the right tooth. Ugg... Around an hour or so later I left bloody, beaten up, and with a prescription of extra strength vicodin. Nick came over and took extra special care of me.

After a long day of laying on the couch I went to bed a little sore and had minimal swelling fast forward to this morning my cheeks were so swollen I looked as though I had been storing nuts in my cheeks all winter.

On the Road Again....

After returning from San Francisco I spent a whole three days in Tahoe before jump in my car and driving to So Cal, Long Beach to be exact and this time alone. One might ask what brought me to So Cal. My long time friend Emily is engaged and her folks threw her an engagement party before she set sail with GC for their next adventure in Italy.

It was a great weekend filled with booze, In n Out 4x4’s, 32oz of blue moon for $7, tears of joy, electric blue PT cruisers, Muppet Mike, 85 degree weather, sandals, shuffle board with the boys, planning trips, old friends, and new memories.

A San Francisco Treat

On April 3rd Nick and I hit the open road. Well the road to San Francisco for a very special occasion – Jenn and Nick’s wedding. Yes! They were finally hitched after eight years in the making. These two were made for each other; it was only a matter of time.

Friday started the whirlwind weekend with the Bridesmaids luncheon at La Petit Robert (2300 Polk St San Francisco, CA 94109), followed by a manni and pedi session right down the street at a spa doubled as a shoe & handbag store. What more could a girl ask for at one time. While Emily and I were being pampered Nick took GC to play disc golf at Golden Gate Park for his very first time.

Later that night was the wedding rehearsal & dinner. The dinner consisted of a traditional Italian dinner at one of the oldest Italian restaurants in the city and local wines compliments of Jenn’s family. And to think this was only the warm-up to the actual day.

On Saturday, April 5th at St. Peter and Paul’s church Jenn and Nick were married. Shortly after the ceremony and a few photos the wedding party and all of our significant others boarded our personal trolley (that’s right) and strolled around the city for photos ops. Last stop Treasure Island; mission wedding reception! Let’s just say it was a party to be remembered. The fun police was even there…GC.

Pictures to follow shortly…
