Holiday Rewind 2012

Before I dive into my Holiday Happenings a winner was picked (at random) for the $50 GlassesUSA.com giveaway. Congratulations Brittani Mcgue.

Happy New Years Eve! How are you Celebrating?
We're back into the full swing of things here in Tahoe. Last week we were busy bees in Colorado and Utah.  There was tons of family time, a brewery tour and thigh high powder in Utah. Oh and five feet of snow waiting patiently for us at home!

Here are the cliff notes of just Christmas:

Saturday morning we hit the open road. While we drove to Fort Collins, CO it was dumping snow in Tahoe.

Sunday we watched a little football and visited with Nick's parents, sister and baby J before heading to Colorado Springs.

Monday, Christmas Eve, we headed out to Garden of Gods for a little walkabout.

My brother lives in Colorado Springs so my sister and I both made the trip out this year to spend Christmas with one of our favorite guys.... Marcus.

The girls in front of the Christmas tree.

The dogs were tuckered out from playing all day. Auggie even rocked a Christmas sweater.

The whole gang for Christmas Eve dinner.

After an amazing dinner we headed back to Fort Collins. I spent Christmas morning with this little man, baby J. Oh yeah --- I'm rocking  HO! HO! HO! pj's, thanks Brit.

We spent the day relaxing and opened gifts later that night. Apparently the Meyer tradition is to guess the gift before opening it. Here's Nick giving it a go. I think he might have even guessed this one right.

I'm keeping it real... a super cheesy photo of me with my new favorite book, from the bloggers over at Young House Love and a homemade rooster pin cushion from grandma Jo!

The Meyer clan on Christmas!

Check back this week for posts on  New Belgium, Utah Skiing and more Garden of Gods! Oh and mission snow removal :)

December Cara Box Exchange

Last month I participated in my first Cara Box exchange over at Wifessionals. It was fun meeting another blogger through the swap, so I signed up again for December. This month's theme was all about sparkle and a bit different as the person I sent a little package to sent a package to another blogger. So I was able to connect with two bloggers this month. I  sent to Monqiue at Life's Little Vignettes and received a sweet box from Ashley at Mrs. Mama.

She nailed the Sparkle! Santa hat, nail polish, eyeliner, a book about being awesome, cupcake covers, snowflake ornament and hair pins... oh my!

Each item was wrapped with a little note! How sweet is Ashley?! She put all this together even while she was dealing with a few health issues.

Thanks Ashley, you are one amazing lady!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday. I'll have a few updates this week about our travels.

xo,

Tiara

Nothing's better in winter than a cozy sweater dress and leggings! Of course I'll rock my new Cate the Great Deco Sorel boots!  The red watch adds just a touch of Christmas spirit.

The only thing missing from my morning outfit is hot coco and a cozy fire :)

Ornament Swap Love

When Meg over at Henning Love announced she was hosting an ornament swap, I thought how fun.

I was paired up with the lovely Lauren from Wayferes & Worksheets.
Don't delay go check out her blog today! She's east coast born living and dreaming in Cali. Oh and her race (running) "resume" is impressive too.

She sent the cutest/perfect ornaments for our tree! Of course before I thought about taking a picture I was already scouring the tree for the prefect spot.

Top: Aspen like sticks spell out Noel with a little pine cone, holly and pine needles.
Bottom: Two mittens with holly

Both look great on the tree and are very "Tahoe."

Thanks again Meg and Lauren!

Weekend Rewind :: Simply Tahoe

It was another action packed weekend in Tahoe! Office Christmas party, Tahoe Regional Young Professional Mixer, a rail jam, fresh snow, Snowboarding and a flight to LA.
Wow.... now for the photo roll.

Technically Wedensday I started my weekend with two events in one night! After work I headed over to Sushi Pier for a drink with some friends and a little rail jam. There was even a fun photo booth!

After saying bye to friends I headed to a new hotel in town for the last Tahoe Regional Young Professional mixer of the year. Basecamp Hotel is the new "it" place to stay. We even roasted s'mores by  a campfire!

Friday night was our office Christmas party. My boss hosts the  party at his house. Check out the tree and train village set up!

By the time we left his house it had already snowed 5-6"!  Our bookkeeper decided to sled down the driveway.

brrr.... Saturday was cold.

With temps low and new snow you can imagine I was up and out the door. I spent Saturday and Sunday snowboarding at Heavenly Mountain Resort. It was nice and fluffy. As I was riding through the trees you could hear hoots and hollers from others and I couldn't help but smile.

Enjoying the chair ride up.

Of course the baby dog enjoyed a snowy walk. You almost can't see her.

Sunday evening I beat the next storm off the hill and flew to LA for a few days.

Next Monday is Christmas eve, can you believe it?!

O Christmas Tree

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree,
Your branches green delight us!

One of my favorite things at Christmas, other than loads of cookies, is decorating the Christmas tree! Nick tried telling me he wasn't bringing home a tree this year since we'll be in Colorado, but one evening I came home and this guy was waiting!

You know what came next! I marched right out to the shed and brought in all the Christmas decorations and ornaments! ....and started decorating.

I'm missing my tree skirt, but here's the finished look (my picture skills are lacking).

And a few close up of the ornaments.

The Heavenly Gondola is one of my favorite ornaments. It reminds me of the 4.5 years I worked there and the day's I've spent snowboarding with Nick and friends.

My in-laws sent Roxy the  paw  ornament her first Christmas!

You might recognize the T+N from the wedding! I turned all the mini rounds used as table names into ornaments.

Lastly, there are a handful of DIY'd snowflakes. I love this touch. Do you have any personal touches on your tree?

I love my tree and I'm still learning from the best, my mother! Check out the two trees she put up in her house this year! Yes she decorated them herself and no she is not a paid professional.

When do you usually put up your tree?

Roxy the German Shorthaired Pointer

Two and a half years ago I drove out to Sparks, NV and picked up this girl ... we call her Roxy.
My life has never been the same.  Living with a German Shorthair Pointer isn't like living with a lab or golden they're little smarty pants with a dash of crazy, a lot of love and the stamina of a race horse.

But look at this face!

What makes this GSP tick

For every 5 miles we walk/run/hike she goes 10/15 miles
This lover is a great little cuddler
She's always bird hunting
She doesn't let us be lazy -- we try... sometimes
Extremely smart
Tricks include: sit, lay, shake, roll over, sit pretty, flip the treat off the nose and bang bang... she doesn't go down easy it takes a few shots
Crazy funny dog

Now for some more photos of the baby dog...

She's the first one in the water, up the mountain and always on the look out....

She let's me put silly antlers on her.

....and deals with the 100's of photos I take.

She's a great little travel and loves to visit San Diego and San Francisco.

This dog loves the winter just as much as summer.

Do you have a bird dog? I would love to hear your stories.

Weekend Rewind :: Shredtastic Tahoe

What a weekend. Thursday afternoon I received some not-so-good family news. So this weekend was all about celebrating life -- grams would be proud.

{Warning: Between now and April there will be numerous weekend rewinds about me snowboarding. I promise to post amazing scenic shots while trying to make them interesting.}

My weekend started Thursday evening with the annual South Tahoe Chamber Wine Walk at the Heavenly Village. We walked, shopped and sipped on some wine. My girlfriend Jen even won a pair of sweet Toms, very jealous!

With the girls at Red Poets and Skyhawk Lanes Wines tasting room.
With Friday full of meetings I spent my evening maxing and relaxing at home. Plus I knew we would be heading up the mountain early Saturday morning to snowboard.

There are a handful of resorts to ski/ride in Tahoe, but since we bought the Epic Tahoe season pass this year we can ski/ride our little hearts out at Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood

I spent Saturday and Sunday at Heavenly -- it's only 5 minutes from the house. Between crazy snow making capabilities and recent snowfall they were able to open more terrain this weekend. Rumor has it more will open this week plus there's a storm about to roll through! Two thumbs up on grooming!

And now for some snow shots....

Top: View of the terrain from Dipper Express - Nevada side
Bottom: Yes those are my awesome hot pink pants; Purple goggles+helmet = ME

Here's a shot from Canyon Express on the California side. Insane right? Remember when I hiked Mount Tallac this summer? Well there she is and check out the reflection in the lake.

FYI: Heavenly spans two states - California and Nevada

Sunday was a girls day at Heavenly! My girlfriend Aimi (far left) is the executive director of the  Heavenly Ski & Snowboard Foundation so we helped out with the 4-6 year old kids a little bit too. They're just too darn cute with their little skies and all bundled up!

So there you have it a weekend of wine and snowboarding!

Welcome to TAHOE!

How did you enjoy the outdoors this weekend?

A Very Merry Christmas Mantel 2012

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

Yesterday the Mr. bought us a early Christmas gift, a Canon Rebel T3i. So last night  I played around and took a few photos of our rustic mantel decorated for Christmas. Plus, today I'm joining the Merrry Mantel link up with Michelle at Ten June.

I have a lot to learn about this camera, but I can't wait to snap amazing photos of our adventures. Until then here are a few of shots of the mantel.

Roxy even rocked some antlers for us.

My mantel is a little of this and a little of that. You might remember the Let's Climb a Mountain Toget+Her print from my wedding -- it now lives on the mantel. Still love it!  The pinwheel garland is still hanging strong. I think it needs a few more strings.

and of course a few close up shots....

Candles, a few pine cones, a couple ornaments and a reindeer round out the mantel.

Oh and a beautiful photo from our wedding :)
