Emerson Quinn // Six Months

Height + Weight | No clue. Her six month appointment is next week so we'll see, but I'm thinking right under 20 lbs.

Health | We're still working with a physical therapist and she's progressing great. The nanny even noticed it this week. Currently we're working on getting from the seated position to all fours.

Sleep | She's still sleeping through most nights. The last few weeks have been hit and miss with at least one early morning wake ups here and there. I'll chalk that up to either her teething (again) or grandma not sticking to the schedule while she watched her a few weeks ago.

Eat | We have a big girl! Recently we've really started to introduce more solids. Right now her diet is mostly breast milk/formula, rice cereal, and homemade solids.

Wear | It really depends on the brand, but anywhere from 6-9 months. Although 6 months probably won't fit in the next week or so.

Social | Girlfriend is such a happy girl. She spent a hole week with her grandma LeLe (aka my mom) while a worked a few weeks ago. We had some friends from the bay area up for fourth of July and Emerson spend some time with her further BFF. Roxy seems to like the baby more and more.

Baby Gear | Check out our 3-6 month favorites here.

Milestones | We're moving and grooving over here.

+ Cutting two more teeth!

+ Sitting up like a champ.

+ Finally rolled from her back to stomach.

+ Started eating homemade solids and rice cereal.

+ Started drinking formula with breast milk. We like the Honest formula.

+ Started giggling

+ Celebrated her first Fourth of July.

+ Working on learning how to use a sippy cup. We have this one.

+ Mom completed her Nursery!

Postpartum | Trying to find a balance between workouts and food. Breast feeding really threw me off because I was trying to consume enough calories to keep up with the demand. Although, I'm still below my pre-preganancy weight I'm soft and not as strong so I'm working on that now.

Baby Gear // 3-6 Month Favorites

Baby Favorites // 0-3 Months

First, OMG, I have a six month old! Tune in tomorrow for a full recap until then these are just a few of our favorite things.

Skip Hop Play Mat | We still use this -- a lot. I like to place Emerson on her play mat for independent play in the morning. She lasts about 15-20 minutes most days, but sometimes she wants nothing to do with it.

Lulujo Baby Mini Muslins Cloths {c/o} | I raved about Lulujo Baby a few months back and we're using them daily. I keep a mini muslin cloth in my purse and diaper bag at all times. Girlfriend even thinks they're a toy and likes playing with them.

Halo SleepSack {c/o} | Emerson is still using her Halo SleepSack everyday -- even for naps. I think it's comforting to her. It's as though she knows it's bedtime when I put it on her.

Lamaze Baby Toy, Muffin the Moose | Stuffed animal meets baby toy. Emerson loves her moose. At this point she mainly chews on it.

BOB Stroller | We're not running yet, but long walks and hills. Emerson loves the stroller and typically falls asleep before we make it home. The BOB is big so I haven't traveled with it yet. Plus, she was really small our first two trips making it easy to just use our Boba Wrap. That wont be the case next time -- so, we'll see how it goes. I should note this is the only stroller we own so basically I'm going to make it work.

Bumbo | We started using the Bumbo right at 3 months and she loved sitting it in while we cooked dinner. Just recently she graduated to the highchair.

Carter's Embroidered Romper | Summertime and the livin's easy... We love our rompers. Between Carter's and GapBaby I can't help myself.

Vulli Sophie Giraffe | Every baby needs Sophie in their lives. We have the rattler size too. Word to the wise -- you want both sizes. The rattler was perfect at 3 months. Like I mentioned above she puts EVERYTHING in her mouth and she love chewing on Sophie.

Ergobaby Performance Collection | We're still big fans of baby wearing. These days we've been mostly using the Ergo. The buckles make it really easy to get on and off. However, our Boba & Happy wraps are much more comfortable.

Philips AVENT Natural Bottle | Back in May miss thing decided she didn't want to take the bottle anymore. It was so hard the two days a week I was in the office. Well we figured it out. She didn't like the Dr. Browns bottles anymore. Thank god I only had to try out one bottle! It took a few attempts, but after a week she decided she liked the Philips Avent Natural bottles and hasn't looked back. She even like's the Life Factory bottles which I'm very pleased about.

Babyganics Sunscreen SPF 50 | It's summer so naturally we need sunscreen. This is by far our favorite. Honest was the worst -- sooooo greasy.

Fisher-Price Jumperoo | Best $25 I've spent on Craigslist. These things can run about $100, but they are seriously worth it. Emerson LOVES the jumperoo. This particular jumperoo turns 360, has 12 interactive toys, various noises and three adjustable heights. I suggest buying used if you can since the weight limit is 25 lbs.

DOHM White Noise Machine | It's doesn't matter what you have -- you'll just want a white noise machine. I know a lot of other blogger who have the DOHM and love it. We were in a bind one night and just found static on an old clock radio and it worked! Best part we didn't have to spend $50. That's a win in my book. Anyway if you don't have a old clock radio I would recommend buying this white nose machine.

Alright mamas what are some of your favorite 6-9 month items?

Carnitas Breakfast Quesadilla + #DRFRecipeChallenge | VOTE NOW!

{Disclosure: I received a few samples from DEL REAL to create a recipe}

During the week I typically stick to quick easy breakfast food, cue green smoothies. However, when the weekend rolls around I love whipping up eggs and toast with avocado, french toast, pancakes, etc. When Del Real asked a few bloggers to come up with a few recipes for their contest I jumped at the chance. This is my first real recipe challenge.

Initially I decided to make breakfast tacos, but my mom took it one step further and suggested a breakfast quesadilla! Now that's thinking out of the box.

I'm not going to lie there is nothing healthy about this breakfast, but it sure is tasty. My college self would be in heaven.... You can vote for my recipe HERE.

Carnitas Breakfast Quesadilla

Serves 6

Ingredients
1 Package Carnitas
6 Eggs
1 tbsp Almond Milk
2 cups Mexican blend cheese
butter
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Pepper
Flour tortilla
sour cream
guacamole
salsa/ pico de gallo

Directions
Beat eggs, almond milk, salt and pepper in bowl until blended.

Heat butter in large nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot. Pour in egg mixture. As eggs begin to set, gently pull the eggs across the pan with an inverted turner, forming large soft curds.

In the meantime heat Carnitas.

Continue cooking eggs – pulling, lifting and folding eggs – until thickened and no visible liquid egg remains. Do not stir constantly. Add meat and stir to combine. Remove from heat and set aside.

In a heavy skillet, heat 1 tablespoon butter.

Assemble flour tortilla. Spread shredded cheese on the tortilla and top with egg/meat mixture and salsa. Sprinkle additional cheese and fold the tortilla in half. Place in skillet. When the bottom tortilla half is lightly brown and cheese has started to melt, flip quesadilla and cook on the opposite side. Remove quesadilla from skillet and cut into quarters. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Top quesadillas with guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo.

BTW --  I can win $2,000 and my recipe on the package! You all know how much my blog means to me and winning would be so sweet. Vote here. I'm currently in 17th place. You can vote once every 24 hours. Let's make this happen.

Friday Five // Food, #NSale + A Giveaway!

TGIF!

I'm sorry, but summer is flying by way too fast! Anyone else with me? I feel like it just started. Anyway this weekend I'm helping out a friend who is a personal chef and I'm sure the rest of the time I'll be loving on my girl and taking care of life chores. Oh there will be some recipe testing and blog writing. I have some fun reviews coming soon. Until then...

ONE | This girl

I mean look at that face! Girlfriend is just too cute for words... Just in case you missed it, yesterday I shared her nursery details!

TWO | #NSale // What I really bought.

If I had a million dollars.... I would have a new wardrobe courtesy of Nordstrom. My original cart was $600+ and included these Frye boots, but I couldn't make up my mind and my size is now sold out :( fingers crossed they restock. After narrowing down my cart, I decided on these three items: Gray Booties, Nikes (I bought the gray + pink) and leggings. What #NSale purchases have you made?

THREE | Favorite New Detour Smart Bar

A few months ago when I chatted about a few protein bars I like to keep on hand I mentioned Detour SMART. Well as an ambassador for #fitfluential Detour hooked me up with their latest flavor. OMG! I'm in heaven. The size + flavor [Coconut Almond] is spot on. I tested it out yesterday in-between workouts and it was just what I needed. The hubby had one with his coffee and called it breakfast. He's funny about protein bars, but loved it. I think this box will go fast.

Get 15% off when you order directly from Detour just enter teamdetour at checkout. #snackSMART

As you've probably heard, I entered a recipe contest for food bloggers where I can win $2,000 and my recipe on the package! You all know how much my blog means to me and winning would be so sweet. Vote here. I'm currently tied for 20th.

Emerson Quinn // Nursery Reveal

Guess what?!  I'm finally sharing Emerson's nursery! Better late then never. Am I right?! It was definitely a labor of love and I'm happy with the outcome.

We painted the room Gray Beard by Olympic. It's super light and depending on the light it can look blue or purple at times.

We decided to use a dresser we already owned as a changing table. I'm in love with this MCM piece and designed the room around it. The best part is we scored it for $15 a few summers ago at a garage sale! #winning

Above the dresser/changing table is a mix of new and old. I purchased the round metal mirror at TJMaxx a few years ago and never could find a place for it, until now. The prints to the right are antique lithographs my mom found at a garage sale 10+ years ago. They're images of various European landmarks [i.e., London Eye, Eiffel Tower, etc]. To the left are shelves from Ikea with books, photos, etc.

I'm absolutely in love with the ceiling light. I knew it was the one when I saw it. [Ceiling Light (currently 50% off)similar]

The rug was a piece I was on the fence about for awhile, but it ended up working out once everything was pulled together.  If you have a dog I wouldn't recommend this rug it's really starting to show the wear and tear after only 6 months.

I really love this side of the room. Everything from the DIY blanket ladder to the collage above the crib. We were gifted with so many handmade blankets and the ladder is a great way to display them.

I searched and searched for an affordable glider/rocker and landed on this bad boy. It's perfect and so comfy.

Another shot of the shelves. Did you notice the rocking horse? That was my childhood rocking horse.  Emerson's room is a great mix of new and old pieces.

Close up of the dresser. It didn't look this good until my hubby refinished it.

Regarding the collage it's a mix of free printables and etsy.

Again, we were gifted so many nice blankets and I was looking for a way to display them. Instead of spending $$ at PB for this ladder the hubby DIY'd one for me! Didn't it turn out great. He's so handy. Oh and it only cost about $10 since we used stain we already had.

Close up of the shelves and canvas.

Happy Wrap Review + Giveaway!

{Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post brought to you by Happy Baby Wrap. Although I received product for review opinions are 100 % my own.}

Come on get Happy.... Sorry I had to. Anyway we're big fans of baby wearing over here. Like all things baby there are so many options when it comes to wraps, slings and just straight baby carriers. At the end of the day it all depends on the mom and baby -- what works for one person may not work for another.

OK, let's talk specifically about the Happy Baby Wrap. It's soft, lightweight and packs down into a small pouch. This is key for parents who travel often or live in warm climates.

Over the weekend we took our Happy Baby Wrap for a walk/hike. How did it perform? I feel it's great for running errands, plane travel or short walks. However I don't think it's great for longer walks or hiking. The material is extremely soft and lightweight which is perfect for warm days. However, I felt the material didn't have much give or maybe it just stretched out after awhile. This made it difficult to keep Emerson, who is around 16lbs, snug in the wrap. After about 30 minutes I had to keep adjusting her. I wouldn't completely rule out this wrap as I do feel it would be perfect if she was 0-3 months. The suggested weight is 8-25lbs.

Features:
Lightweight and breathable – ideal for hot weather
– Fully adjustable ensuring a perfect fit every time!
– Ergonomically supports your baby up to 25 lbs
– No buckles or rings that may break
– Allows for discreet nursing
– Upright position helps reduce colic/acid reflux
– Luxuriously soft
– Machine washable

Final thoughts: We'll keep using the Happy Baby Wrap. I love the high quality lightweight bamboo material. Plus, I wasn't a hot sweaty mess after an hour when I have been with other carriers. The Happy Baby Wrap would make a great baby gift.

As part of my review, Happy Baby Wrap is kindly offering one lucky reader a baby wrap!

Product Review // ZIG Portable Protein Shake

{Disclosure: As a Brand Ambassador for Fitfluential I received a few samples of ZIG to review, however, all opinions are 100% my own.}

I've been meaning to write this post for awhile, but life got busy... enter work + baby + trying to stay healthy and sane. Yes, it's all possible -- but this is why I love the portable shake ZIG

With it being my busiest week of the year this mom needs healthy on-the-go options. ZIG isn't just for those who are running marathons or pumping iron. If you didn't already know I'm a big smoothie/juice/shake person in the morning. It's just a great way to kick off the day especially after a sweaty workout. Sometimes you just don't have the time to break out a blender, but with ZIG all you need is water, a few shakes, and you're good to go!

ZIG is the best portable protein shake around.  The flexible lightweight pouch is easy to carry and has 20 grams of protein powder freshly sealed inside. Inside of the pouch is MixingMesh technology. The MixingMesh inside ZIG breaks up any clumps of powder when you shake it so you’ll always have a smooth shake.

Benefits of ZIG:
  • Each pouch has 20 grams of premium whey protein powder freshly sealed inside
  • When you’re ready for your protein shake, just fill, shake and drink – no measuring and no mess
  • Leave the mixers, bottles, and shaker cups at home. The MixingMesh inside ZIG breaks up any clumps of powder when you shake it so you’ll always have a smooth shake.
  • Protein powder when you want it, where you want it. Ready-to-drink shakes are rarely cold when you want them. At the gym, work or anywhere else, ZIG goes where you go.
  • No measuring, no scooping, no mess. With a single serving of premium powder already inside, ZIG makes it easy. Fill with water, shake, and drink.
ZIG was created for the go-getters. The hustlers. The never-say-no-ers. The on-the-go, can’t sit still, seize the day-ers. You’re busy – we know it. Making healthy choices can be hard when the going gets tough. ZIG makes it easy: fill, shake, drink. 20g of fresh premium whey protein. At the gym, work or anywhere else – ZIG goes where you go.

Personally, I like the chocolate flavor. In my opinion ZIG tastes good and is perfect when you're out, hiking, biking or need to grab something on-the-go in the morning or running errands. I keep one in my gym bag just in case. You can order a 6-pack on amazon here for $18 -- that's only $3 a shake! Looking for a killer deal buy one 6-pack, get 1 free on amazon when you use JULYZIG1 through July 31. That's only $1.50 a shake!

Watermelon Juice + A Hamilton Beach Wave-Action Blender Giveaway!

{Disclosure: As a Brand Ambassador for Hamilton Beach I received the Wave-Action® Blender to review, however, all opinions are 100% my own. This giveaway is sponsored by Hamilton Beach.}

Good morning lovelies! There's nothing better on a warm summer day than a cold beer, but that's not a healthy way to start your day;). These days my breakfast consists of toast and fresh juice or a smoothie. My husband refers to me as the smoothie queen because I make them so much. I've also been known to burn out a few blenders in my day.

The folks over at Hamilton Beach were kind enough to send me this beauty, Wave-Action® Blender.

Features:
  • Wave~Action® system pulls mixture into the blades for smooth results
  • Lid spout makes pouring easy
  • 48 oz. glass jar
  • Ideal for smoothies, shakes & icy drinks
  • 700 watt peak power motor
  • Dishwasher-safe glass jar
  • Lid with pour spout & filler cap
  • Three-year limited warranty
  • Stir spoon included for thicker foods & mixtures
  • BPA-free in food zones

So, what did the self proclaimed smoothie queen think? This blender is awesome. From the compact size to the spout I'm in love. The true blender test is spinach. If a blender can puree it then you know it's good. Basically if you can't see any dark leaves then you have a winner. Trust me all blenders are not created. The best part -- this bad boy is only $35! Not only will you get a great smoothie blender, but you wont break the bank. #winning

The blender comes with a few pre-set settings -- milkshake, smoothie & salsa. This takes the guess work out of blending. A feature I've come to love. When things are a bit thicker there's a spoon/wand to help move things around without having to stop the blender and give a shake or two. Been there done that.

All in all the wave-action is a great blender at it's price point. I see a number of smoothies/juice, salsa and maybe even pesto in my near future

Of course, I can't talk about smoothies/ juice without sharing one with you. I whipped up this yummy juice over the weekend.  Enjoy!

Watermelon Spinach Juice
Serves 1

Ingredients:
1 cup watermelon + a little extra juice
1 1/2 cups spinach
1/2 lime, peeled
1 cup  ice

Directions:
Place all the ingredients in the blender and  blend until desired consistency. Garnish with a lime or slice of watermelon and enjoy.

Summer Trend // Birkenstocks

Happy Monday. I can't believe the weekend is already over. We had friends up from the bay area, enjoyed a day at the beach and barbecued. Anyway today I want to talk about a summer trend I can't decide if I want to embrace. I don't claim to be a fashion blogger, but I don't mind rocking the latest trends. With that said, Brikenstocks - yay or nay?

Birkenstocks

Top Row: One | Two | Three | Four
Bottom Row: One | Two | Three | Four

Do you own a pair of Birkenstocks? Is the trend here to stay? I'm leaning towards yay and currently have these in my cart. I feel they are simple enough to go with almost everything.

Summer Treats at Whole Foods Market + A Giveaway!

{Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post brought to you by Northern California's Whole Foods Market. Although I received product for review opinions are 100 % my own.}

OK, so it's no secret I LOVE Whole Foods. I can't make it to Reno, NV without stopping by. I don't even need to tell you what I said when the Whole Foods Market regional team asked if I would like some goodies for the holiday weekend -- heck yes!

So what's on the menu at Whole Foods? Finger licking good fried chicken -- yes, that's right I eat fried chicken ok maybe once or twice a year, but you have to treat yourself occasionally; a bbq fan favorite -- potato chips; Watermelon lemonade -- which goes on sale this weekend; bubbles for the kiddos; lastly blackberry lime pie. I seriously can't wait to dive head first into this pie. Oh and don't forget to check out their reusable bags made of 100% recycled materials.

OK, right about now you're thinking you need to run some last minute errands. Let your car drive you to the nearest Whole Foods Market even if it's just to pick up some Watermelon Lemonade and Blackberry Lime pie! You won't regret it.

Naturally, I grabbed lunch while I was there -- some type of kale/barely salad plus vegetable chips   and cucumber infused water (pictured above).

Enough about me! What about you!

Because Whole Foods Market Nor Cal loves you too they are offering readers a fun giveaway.
