Hiking Lake Tahoe at Sunrise // Maggies Peak

How early would you wake up to go hiking? Saturday morning my alarm went of at 3:30 a.m. I hit snooze and thought about how warm my bed was. It went off again 10 minutes later and this time I actually I rolled out of bed. So why was I getting up so early on a Saturday? To chase the sunrise with 50 + of my closest friends.

The plan was to meet #ChasingSunrise at the trailhead around 4:15 a.m. and start hiking Maggies Peak shortly after. I first heard about the sunrise hike from a friend via social media and thought that sounds like fun I want to do that. I'm so glad I did. Seriously, check out this view!

The hike itself is extremely short at about 1.5 miles, but it's not easy. It's straight up the whole way. You better believe I was huffing and puffing. The reward was well worth it.

Once at the top we enjoyed good company,  great views and  tunes provided by Ultimate Ears.

The whole crew. Hikers came from all over to join the #ChasingSunrise crew -- who drove 1,000 miles from Canada!

Again the views were awesome! I would definitely hike Maggies Peak again even if it wasn't at sunrise. This view is worth it!

When was the last time you watched the sunrise?

Bulu Box Review + Discount Code!

Disclaimer: I received the below mentioned products through my partnership with Fit Approach. However, all thoughts and opinion are 100% my own.

Over the last few years monthly box subscriptions have flooded the market and our options are endless. You can find a box for anything -- from beauty goods, to clothes, to snack packs and even full meals!

Like many americans I've tried my fair share of monthly box subscriptions. While some months and boxes are better than others I've been able to test out a wide range of new products. Naturally when given the oppurtunity to try Bulu Box I jumped at the chance.

What is Bulu Box? Bulu Box is the first health, nutrition and weight loss discovery box designed to help you feel your best. Each month, you’ll get a custom box filled with a new mix of 4 to 5 premium samples from top brands to try. Every sample is sufficient enough to decide if the product is right for you. Of course, shipping is always free and you can cancel anytime. Share your thoughts about each product in our sample surveys and you can earn 50+ Rewards Points (that's $5!) each month! Use your points to purchase your new favorites in full size at BuluBox.com! Here you’ll also get expert tips, tricks and a supportive community of Bulugans just like you! Join the discovery and find a healthier you!

Overall, I the amount of products I received was worth the cost of the box. Not to mention, the box was worth it solely for two samples of Quest Nutrition protein powder -- love Quest! Otherwise, I was underwhelmed by the remaining products. The Mediterra bar was ok, but I do not plan on purchasing this bar in the near future. I do enjoy energy gummies on race day so I'm saving these for another day. Regarding the remaining two products (one not pictured) I have no need for them and plan on giving them away to someone who will use the product.

Before completely ruling out Bulu Box I would be willing to give it a few more months. Like I mentioned before some months are better than others when it comes to subscription boxes.

Want to try Bulu Box for yourself? Lucky you Bulu Box is offers readers 50% off a 3-month subscription when you use SWEATPINK. To start you discounted subscription, purchase your monthly box HERE and don't forget to use SWEATPINK at checkout.

Have you tried Bulu Box? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Emerson Quinn // Seven Months

Height + Weight | Well, girlfriend finally had her 6 month well baby last week! She was 17lbs 8oz and 27 inches! I'm thinking she's going to be taller than her mama. Which isn't hard to do -- HA!

Health | Other than a snotty nose and slight fever from her 6 month shots mixed with teething she's A-OK. Therapy is going well. Right now she can get to all fours on her own and we're starting to teach her how to crawl. Watch out now.

Sleep | Emerson is an early riser like her parents and typically wants to start her day at 6:30 a.m.! We can work with that since these days she goes to bed between 7:30 & 8 p.m. She still takes two solid naps during the day too. On a side note -- this month was a little rough as she was waking up once in th middle of the night due to teething. However, once we start giving her teething tablets she was back to sleeping through the night. YAY! We're still rocking the white noise at night too.

Eat | This one doesn't miss a meal and has loved everything we've given her. I make 99% of her food.   We have pouches for when we're out and about. This past month I start weaning her off breast milk. Right now she drinks 4 bottles a day -- 25% breast milk and 75% formula. She loves the Honest formula and trust  me we tried a few brands and this is what ended up working for us.

Regarding solids so far she's tried: sweet potatoes, peaches, apples, broccoli, carrots, rice cereal, spinach, green beans, avocado, banana, scrambled eggs, mango and just a taste of yogurt.

Wear | My little chunky monkey is in size 9-12 months depending on the brand.

Social | This month we've stayed busy walking, hiking and visiting with friends. Emerson went the beach with her boyfriend Waytt and was showing her moves at the concert in the park a few weekends ago. She has crazy moves.

Baby Gear | Help me now, babies/kids have a lot of stuff! Emerson is still loving her jumperoo. We also graduated her to the Ergo full-time for baby wearing. With hardwood floors in our near future I purchased a skip hop play mat -- and well I love it!

Milestones | This is always hard since I'm with her everyday. Things just seem normal.
+ Four more teeth on the top, makes five teeth total!
+ Can now hold her bottle on her own to eat. Yup, self service.
+ Can get on all fours all on her own.
+ Reaches from the sitting position for toys and brings them back to her to play. All without falling over.
+ More and more solids.
+ Rolling machine
+ Had her first fever after her 6 month shots.
+ Went to her first concert on the beach and at a park! She has moves.

Postpartum | Life is great! I'm lifting and running more and more everyday. Over the last month I started to see a Chiropractor -- this was a fitness game changer. I was so out of alignment from a combo of things, but I'm feeling great. Because I'm such a fitness junkie and want to help others achieve their fit goals I joined Beach Body. Yes, I'm a "fitness coach." My first challenge starts September 7  (FYI deadline to join is September 1). If you want in email me at tiarawasner {at} gmail {dot} com or purchase either the piyo or 21 day fix HERE. It's not about losing weight, it's about making a lifestyle change and I'm ready to inspire and help you along the way.

Hiking Lake Tahoe // Dardanelles Lake Trail

If you didn't know, I'm lucky to call Lake Tahoe home. The adventures are endless. Last week the hubby and I celebrated anniversary number three! YAY us! In stead of a fancy dinner to celebrate the we spent the day outside. We opted to leave Emerson with the nanny, but don't worry she'll be hiking with us in no time.

We've hiked to round lake via big meadow in the past, but never to Dardanelles Lake.

The hike itself is pretty easy,  however I think it's listed as intermediate. We started from the Big Meadow trailhead. Of course, there's a big meadow. If you timed the hike just right in July the wildflowers would be in full bloom.

Roxy loves running free and playing stick.

After a few hours we finally made it to Dardanelles Lake!

We enjoyed sandwiches from Lira's Market (located in Meyers) and soaked in the views.

Our attempt at an usie... clearly we need to work on it. We were definitely missing our baby girl, but with the smoke haze were happy with our decision to leave her behind.

At only 8 miles roundtrip, Dardnelles Lake makes a great day hike. Don't forget to pack plenty of water, snacks and sunscreen.

5 Brands with a Cause

Purchase with a purpose seems to be everywhere these days. I remember back in the day when TOMS launched one-for-one. After chatting with my sister the other day it got me thinking about other brands with a cause.  The list is endless, but here are five I will continue to support.

ONE | PATAGONIA
The high price tag is worth it. According to their mission statement they donate time, services and at least 1% of their sales to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups all over the world who work to help reverse the tide. Over the years I've rocked a number of dresses, sweaters and jackets. Below are just a few pieces I'm currently loving.

TWO | TOMS
TOMS is one of the most visible brands that give back. I'm not sure, but they may have even started the one-for-one trend. I bought into the high priced shoes due to their awesome cause and brilliant marketing. Plus, their shoes are so comfy. I have a few "classic" pairs, booties and wedges. Check out how they're improving lives through shoes, sight, water, safe birth, and preventing bullying here.

THREE | CHOCTAL
HELLO -- ice cream that gives back. Yes, please. First ya'll know how much I love ice cream, but knowing each bite is also giving back is my cup of tea.

Like fine wines, whole-bean coffees and certain chocolates, Choctál ice creams are made from single-origin ingredients – one variety of cacao harvested from a single region. Choctál’s flavors are created from eight hand-selected regions across the globe that have the highest quality cacao resulting in unparalleled blend of richness and indulgence in each pint. You can pick it up and my favorite store -- Whole Foods Market. #doublewin

Oh yeah, they donate to 1% For The Planet.

FOUR | FEED
FEED "Creates good products that help feed the world." No one should ever go hungry, but it happens everyday around the world. FEED offers a variety of bags, tees and accessories. When you purchase anything from their website you actually see how your purchase helps feed kids around the world. Need a new backpack for back to school? Purchase this one and provide 75 school meals for kids around the world. What about a diaper bag? Purchase this one and provide 180 micronutrient servings for woman and their children   around the world. Or how about my favorite fold over bag that provides 75 school meals for kids around the world.

FIVE | BOXED WATER
Typically, you'll find me drinking from a reusable water bottle, but when that's not in the cards Boxed water is better. First, you're saving the plant from one more plastic box. Second, they donate 1% of annual revenue to 1% For The Planet supporting world water relief, reforestation, and environmental protection projects.

Three Year Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary to US!

The last three years have flown by and our family even expanded to 3 + Roxy! I can't wait to see what's to come.

This year we decided to forgo gifts. Seriously though -- I got a new kitchen. Really it's the gift that keeps giving.

However, did you know year three is all about leather? So naturally I pulled together three joint gift ideas for the home.

ONE | Couch/Sectional
After knocking out a 24 foot wall the whole space needs to be updated and I realllly want a new couch. We've never had leather, but with a dog and baby I feel it would be way easier to maintain. Mamas what do you think about leather couches? I'm loving the clean lines on this one from West Elm.

TWO | Ottoman
To continue on the updating train. I would love to ditch our traditional coffee table for an ottoman. Of course a leather one would be perfect, but I think I would prefer it paired with a upholstered couch. Check out AV's round-up on kid friendly living rooms and ottomans here. This ottoman from Crate and Barrel might look a little heavy, but it also has storage! #winning

THREE | Barstools
Adding a fabulous island to the kitchen means we'll need barstools. Question is backs or no backs. I love the nailhead detail on the these barstools from Pottery Barn.

ONE | Cha - cha - changes

TWO | Fitness Coaching
I have a secret. I joined the Beach Body team as a fitness coach. The plan is to work on my certifications, but until then this is a great way to help motivate individuals to reach their fitness goals. My first "get fit" challenge will start September 7.
