12 Things to add to Your Nordstrom Wish List

There's something about a sale and Nordstrom that make me giddy. Ok, maybe it's just a sale.... either way you really can't go wrong when shopping at Nordstrom.

Recently I've been thinking about scrapping my wardrobe, in it's entirety, and starting over. The thought is scary, but I'm pretty sure I wear the same thing every week -- mostly activewear and 'work' clothes a few days a week. At this point I'm sure my clients think I only have 5 outfits. HAHA

I started browsing Nordstrom and added the following to my wish list and or cart. I bet you know which made it to the cart -- cough, zella leggings, cough.

Anyway these are all great pieces that will work perfectly throughout fall and winter. What's on you Nordstrom's wish list?

Holiday Card Options

Yes, Holiday cards. I went there before Halloween even happen. I guess I'm as bad as the big box stores already discounting Thanksgiving items and rolling out Christmas decor! Crazy right?! But let's be real either you're starting to think about your Christmas card or you've already snapped the perfect photo.

Sometimes the hardest part it picking out a card design. The last few years we've used Minted and while I love Minted this year I decided to explore my options.

Minted
As mentioned above, Minted as been our go-to the last few years [2013, 20142015] and is the top contender for 2016. Minted offers an array of options. I think the reason I keep going back is because they have some of the best designs. I'm a sucker

I'm loving this, this and this.

Tiny Prints
I've heard so many great things about Tiny Prints. Plus, I do love using Shutterfly to create photo books so it only made sense to check out Tiny Prints -- They're one in the same company. They are also very affordable. We all know Christmas Cards can be pricey. psst: when you sign up you'll receive a code for 25% Off + FREE Shipping on your first order! That's worth ordering from Tiny Prints.

Paper Culture
Maybe you've heard of them maybe you haven't. I'm kind of crushing on Paper Culture right now. They have a super modern feeling to their cards. Right now they are offering 30% off -- no code necessary!   Aside from being affordable here are a few additional reasons you should buy Paper Culture: A Tree Planted with EVERY Order, 100% Post-Consumer Recycled Paper, and FREE Return & Recipient Address Printing.

Okay -- I'm sure I only scratched the surface regarding Holiday card options so tell me your favorite[s]!

Well, I survived Jury Duty! While it was only three days, it was a long three days. I actually have some really great posts I need to write, but it's just not going to happen this week. Sometimes you have it in you and sometimes you just don't. Plus, I feel like I'm playing catch up with work. I'm sure most of you can relate. The BEST Pulled Barbecue Chicken Sandwiches

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #WasteNoPaste #CollectiveBias

Oh, you're in for a treat today. When fall rolls around my slow cooker becomes a weekly occurrence. Yesterday's dinner plans quickly changed when I realized I had to show up for jury duty. To top it off the process took longer than expected and, yes, I was pick as a juror!

Anyway, during our hour lunch break I ran home and threw together a quick slow cooker dish. Hey there was no way I was going to want and cook after jury duty.  I knew I would be exhausted and have to catch up on work, blog, life, etc. Luckily I worked out at 6 a.m.

After a quick survey I decided on Pulled Barbecue Chicken Sandwiches. And no it's not just BBQ sauce and chicken in a slow cooker. People PLEASE don't do that. I have a much tastier and healthier way thanks to Against All Grain.

Pulled Barbecue Chicken Sandwiches
serves 6 [via Against All Grain]

Ingredients

1 pound chicken, skinless chicken breasts
1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
3/4 cup diced yellow onion
1/2 cup + 2tbsp white vinegar
1/2 honey
1/4 cup Hunt's Recipe Ready "Pre-measure 2TBS" Paste Pouches [you'll need 2 pouches]
2 tbsp coconut amigos
1 1/2 tbsp all-natural liquid smoke
2 tsp minced garlic
2 tsp fish sauce
1 1/2 tsp chili powder
1 1/2 tsp sea salt
1 tsp paprika
1tsp Dijion mustard
3/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp pepper

Directions

Place all ingredients in a slow cooker and cook on high for 3 hours. Remove chicken and shred using two forks. Return chicken to slow cooker and continue cooking for 1 hour.

Meanwhile make sides and/or buns. If I don't have time I use mini rolls.

Major pro tip, new product alert or whatever you want to call it, but I need to call attention to one of the ingredients, Hunt's Recipe Ready "Pre-measure 2TBS" Paste Pouches. Yes, you read that correctly - pre-measured pouches. All our dreams have been answered. I don't know about you, but I've thrown away so many half used cans of tomato paste over the years. Whelp, moving forward we won't be wasting tomato paste in our house because these pouches are recipe ready!

Stock up on a few boxes the next time you're at Walmart. Trust me, these Hunt's Recipe Ready "Pre-measure 2TBS" Paste Pouches will make life and cooking clean up easy peasy.

One more shot for you!

DIY Flamingo Costume

Halloween - DIY Flamingo Costume

Well hello party people. I'm back with a brand new addition... lol. All Vanilla Ice kidding aside I'm back with an awesome DIY costume and an even better reaction from my toddler wearing it. If you follow me on instagram [@tiara_wasner] then you know what I'm talking about.

But first the cutest costume.

DIY FLAMINGO COSTUME

Materials
- Pink dress or pink top with  pink and white striped leggings
- 3 to 5 pink feather boas
- scraps of  light pink, hot pink and black felt
- safety pin
- 50" pink ribbon

Tools
- black sharpie
- sewing scissors
- hot glue gun or sewing machine

STEP 1: Make the Skirt

Cut a piece of ribbon around 50” long.

Cut the boas in halves, thirds or quarters, depending on the length of your boa. You'll want your boa strips to be double the length of your finished skirt length.

Tie one of the boa strips around the ribbon with a simple knot. Let the two sides dangle down evenly-ish. Repeat until you have a full skirt. It's okay if the skirt doesn’t go all of the way around, as long as it covers the front.

Push all of the boa strips onto the center of the ribbon and tie the ribbon in the back around your waist. Your skirt is done!

STEP 2: Make the Head

To make the flamingo head, pull one of the boa strips from the skirt around to the top.  Cut two light pink felt circles for the head and use additional pieces of felt for beak shapes.

Pro tip: Use the ribbon holder as a circle template and simply trace around it with the marker.

Place beak shapes on top of one another and sew together or use a hot glue gun.  Repeat so that you have two identical flamingo heads.

Use a black sharpie to draw the eyes. Place the flamingo heads around the top of the boa strip sandwiching the boa inside the flamingo head. Sew or glue together.

STEP 3: Pull it all together
To ensure the flamingo head stays in place, simply use a safety pin to attach when wearing.

While I thought this was a great costume for my toddler she clearly did not. As soon as the skirt went on  she was franticly trying to rip it off. Feathers were flying EVERYWHERE. Needless to say we're going with plan B....

My sister was in town and captured a few behind the scenes photos. Yup, life of a blogger. I'm either snap chatting or just grabbing some random photos. Who knows. Either way it was fun showing my sister how I'm using  my LG K7  phone from Walmart [$49.88 -- Rollback from $89.88].

21 Budget Friendly Things for your Home

Hello, there.

All this One Room Challenge talk has me thinking I should join the party, but then ya'll know I can't finish a room in six weeks! Oh vey. I'm sweating just thinking about all the decision making I would have to do.

On the other hand, I do have plenty of spaces in need of a makeover.

For example:
1. My living room looks exhausted next to my oh so fresh and clean kitchen!
2. The guest room is nearly there, but now I need to add an office space so I can stop working from the kitchen table, oops.
3. Oh, the master bedroom... can we just start over.
4. Our mudroom is just straight up scary. Think ugly water heater half plywood and 1980's flooring. It got 5 minutes of love during the kitchen remodel, but it needs a lot more.
5. Massive Garage organization..... I'll get the hubs on that stat.

Honestly, I could go on and on about what needs updating, rejuvenation or a straight up overhaul. In  time my dear friend, in time. That's what you get when you purchase a fixer upper and aim to pay for upgrades along the way. Dave Ramsey would be proud and I haven't even read his any of his books, but my sister has and I know we're on the right track.

So, since I have so many spaces that need love I'm all about mixing high and low pieces. What do I mean by that? I will totally splurge on certain items like a couch, but save on other items like frames from Ikea. Only you can determine what is worth splurging on. Today I'm sharing 21 pieces I've either purchased or am considering.

Happy shopping!

Well there you have it 21 things that will help spruce up a space without breaking the bank.

Thoughts About Stitch Fix the Second Time Around

We all deserve second chances and in this case it's called Stitch Fix. I first discovered Stitch Fix in 2014 and after few "fixes" I decided to break up with Stitch Fix because it wasn't giving me what I needed. I've heard it takes a few fixes before you fall in love, but my wallet wasn't happy paying $20 and getting nothing in return.

Fast forward to 2016, Stitch Fix is still styling the masses, bloggers are still loving them and yours truly is giving them a second chance. Stitch Fix kindly offered to cover my styling fee so I could give their service another shot. Since I had nothing to lose [literally] I scheduled a fix.  Before I get to my fix and what and kept or returned let's chat about Stitch Fix. You know, just in case it's new to you.

Stitch Fix is the first fashion retailer to blend expert styling, proprietary technology and unique product to deliver a shopping experience that is truly personalized for you. Simply fill out the Stitch Fix Style Profile and our personal stylists will handpick a selection of five clothing items and accessories unique to your taste, budget and lifestyle. You can buy what you like and return the rest (shipping is free both ways).

It's really that simple. Ok, now let's chat about my fix.

Cotulla Button Back Sweater [$58]
When I initially pulled this sweater out of the box I thought it was a keeper. Then I tried it on and wasn't blown away.  While I LOVE the elbow patches, the buttons were just ok and the the overall fit felt frumpy. Verdict: Returned

TOMS/ Pants [similar]

Adrianna Longsleeve knit Cardigan [$48]
This piece is totally in my closet wheelhouse. Loved the fit and color, but the material wasn't awesome and for that reason I sent it back. Verdict: Returned

Sandie Fleece Lined Legging [$88]
OK, I'm a leggings girl. However if I'm spending $88 on leggings they better be Lululemon. These felt amazing and passed the squat test. However, they were slightly big in the waist and had too high of a price tag. Verdict: Returned

Sorels [similar]

Matt Faux Suede Pocket Knit Top [$44]
Another piece I loved straight out of the box. I pictured myself rocking this top with a pair of joggers while being awesome at the mom stuff I often fail hard at -- that's a post for another day. Anyway, I was extremely disappointed. The pocket was way off, I wish the fit had been looser, and the cream/white was a tad see-through -- oops. It totally reminded me of a top from TJ Maxx, etc. Verdict: Returned

Kamile Knit Dress [$54]
Oh, the little black dress. Loved it, but don't need another. Plus, it was cotton and overpriced.... Verdict: Returned

Boots

Sadly I sent everything back. Yes, you read that correctly I sent everything back. I love the concept of Stitchfix, but honestly I don't know if it's my cup of tea. Maybe if they did away with the styling fee I would be more open to trying the service again.

Have you tried Stitchfix? What are your thought?

Mama + Mini Fall Style

I must confess, while I love all things fall I really don't want summer to end! Reality set in yesterday when it started snowing. While it was more like snow flurries the point is winter is closer than I'm ready for [enter crying emoji].

Luckily it will warm back up this week which means we'll be able to paint the house! We resurfaced the concrete front porch and picked colors so things are starting to come together.....until I second guess myself, again. I really don't know how people do this for a living. I've had so many restless nights over house choices. Then things either work out or don't and I just live with it. HA.

WOW, major side track there. Let's get back to fall style because I am so fashionable. Just kidding. Yeah I can look pulled together, but let's be honest I'm not setting any trends. Hey, I'm just a simple gal. Anyway before I start on another tangent.....
