Hiking Lake Tahoe - Van Sickle Bi-State Park

Last week was jammed packed with the wedding aftermath and family and friends in Tahoe. We loved every minute of it, don't get me wrong. But when Sunday rolled around we enjoyed a lazy morning with coffee, HGTV and the couch before heading out for a little hike around 11 a.m. Since I haven't officially checked out Van Sickle Bi-State Park (although yes we snowboard through it during winter months) we headed to the state-line to enjoy a short hike.

The first big set of boulders to your right is a great place to take in a view.  It's probably 5- 10 minutes into the trail. Yes, I had to jump!

Roxy even enjoyed the view, but too busy hunting to look at the camera.

Burn area from the 2005 Gondola Fire.
If you frequent Heavenly and have experienced firebreak this might look a little familiar.

Of course we hiked back to a little creek for Roxy to cool off. You wouldn't know that this short-hair runs HOT.

It's the end of August and the water is still flowing!

This is one happy pup!

Shhhh.... I might have picked up a few Sugar Pine pine-cones for the house.

Hiking Van Sickle might not be challenging, but it's perfect for an easy Sunday hike or visitors looking for a little wilderness and an amazing view of the lake.

Note: The trail is shared with mountain bikers
